Dr. Jose Tafur is an associate professor of Medicine and is the Interventional Cardiology fellowship program director at Ochsner in New Orleans. His primary professional focus has been on interventions for structural heart disease and postgraduate medical education. Dr. Tafur attended medical school at Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia, his hometown. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas in Houston. He continued to do his fellowship in cardiology at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, followed by additional training in interventional cardiology and structural heart disease at Ochsner. He joined Ochsner faculty in 2017 and became the Cardiology program director in 2020 an then the Interventional Cardiology program director in 2024. His main focus of research is studying teh benefit of TAVR in populations without a current indication.
