Kiyohito Nakai, Ph, D.

Dr. Kiyoto Nakai joined the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 1990. Since then, Dr. Nakai has been involved in regulating and promoting on therapeutic goods as part of his role such as Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices and Regenerative Medicines, and he has also worked as reviewer for Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices at the PMDA. He received Ph. D. status in Pharmaceutical Science in 2002.
He served as Director of the Medical Devices Evaluation Division in 2017, Director of the Pharmaceutical Safety Division in 2020, and Director of the Pharmaceutical Evaluation in 2023 at the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. In 2025, he was appointed to the Chief Safety Officer at the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), where he is responsible for ensuring the safety measure for therapeutic goods.
