Dr. Hafiz, an adult structural heart disease (SHD) interventional cardiologist at SIU School of Medicine, completed internal medicine residency and general cardiology fellowship at Winthrop-University Hospital, NY, followed by fellowships in interventional cardiology and structural heart disease at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the University of Massachusetts, MA, respectively.
Dr. Hafiz joined SIU, where he successfully initiated the SIU SHD program. He is the general cardiology fellowship program APD. An active member of the ACC IL chapter, he co-organizes state-wide cath conferences and advocates for state-level initiatives. Dr. Hafiz participates in local clinical trials as a site PI and organizes educational programs for regional fellows and helps create regional shock teams.
