Dr Joaquin E. Cigarroa is the Division Head of Cardiology, Endowed Melvin Judkins Professor of Cardiology and is a Professor of Medicine in the Knight Cardiovascular Institute of OHSU. In addition, he was appointed the Director of the Knight Cardiovascular Institute in May 2023.

Dr Cigarroa has a specific focus on complex coronary interventions and structural heart disease. He has a longstanding interest in valvular heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and performs structural heart procedures.

He is the current Deputy Editor of CCI, a Board of Trustee for SCAI, and serves on multiple ACC and SCAI committees including serving as the inaugural Chair of the SCAI DEI Committee. He currently serves as the Chair of the FDA Circulatory Devices Panel
