Werner Mohl MD,PhD is Professor emeritus at the Medical University Vienna Austria. He is a cardiac surgeon with over 40 years of surgical experience . As academic surgeon he is active in research and was among the first to use intraopertive echocardiography for surgical quality control. He is the author of more than 150 publications including books, peer reviewed papers and patents in therapies for cardiovascular diseases. He is a serial enterpreneur and Founder of Miracor, AVVie and Assist@Cor. He is the inventor of PICSO, a therapy to reduce the ischemic burden in myocardial infarction and he recently published, that PICSO induces regenerative molecular signals in heart failure patients. He is currently involved in the development of AVVie´s concepts of itranscatheter mitral valve therapies.
