Martin Swaans received his MD from the University of Maastricht in 2005. After a 1.5-year clinical experience, he began his cardiology residency at the St. Antonius Hospital. During his training, he specialized in cardiac imaging with a specific focus on peri-procedural imaging and 3DTEE guidance during structural heart interventions. Following a three-year fellowship, he joined the staff. In 2014, he successfully defended his thesis titled “Transcatheter Cardiac Interventions and the Role of Interventional Echocardiography.” He is a Fellow of the ESC, EACVI, and SCAI. He serves as co-director of the CSI Congress, and is a member of several scientific and congress committees, including EAPCI, PCR Tokyo Valves, PCR London Valves and EACVI. He is also part of the PCR Tricuspid Focus Group, co-track leader for the PCR Mitral Focus Group, and serves on editorial boards.
