Dr. Markus Scherer is a cardiologist and the Director of Cardiac CT and Structural Heart Imaging at the Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute within the Atrium-Advocate Health care system in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dr. Scherer’s career emphases are in cardiac imaging, instruction, and quality improvement for coronary CT, structural cardiac CT, diagnostic and interventional transesophageal echocardiography, intracardiac echocardiography, and in clinical research for transcatheter structural heart therapies and coronary artery disease. He received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, completed his medicine residency at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, his cardiology fellowship at Rush University in Chicago, and is an assistant professor of medicine at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
