Dr. Jaffer is Director of Coronary Intervention and of the CTO PCI program and fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, and a Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Jaffer focuses on CTO and CHIP PCI, utilizing advanced methods including E-CART, bi-radial, mechanical support, zero contrast, and first-in-US experience of real time CT-x-ray fusion to guide CTO PCI. He is the MGH PI for a number of clinical trials and is part of the International PROGRESS CTO PCI registry. His NIH-funded laboratory is driving the field of intravascular imaging of inflammation in CAD. In DVT, his group has shown the importance of timely restoration of blood flow to reduce the post-thrombotic syndrome, and the value of anti-inflammatory therapy in reducing vein wall injury.
