Dr. Clemens von Birgelen is a Professor of Interventional Cardiology at the University of Twente, and Interventional Cardiologist and Director of Cardiac Research at Thoraxcentrum Twente, Enschede, the Netherlands. He was clinically trained at the University Hospitals of Essen and Rotterdam, where he also defended a PhD thesis. Dr. von Birgelen performs PCI procedures for more than 25 years, and is a co-founder of Thoraxcentrum Twente, a high-volume tertiary heart center that serves a large region in the eastern part of the Netherlands. Prof. von Birgelen has a broad range of research interests and is the principal investigator of several clinical trials. He has published more than 340 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=von+Birgelen).
